Edo Senke was founded in the Edo period by Kawakami Fuhaku, trained under Joshinsai, the seventh-generation head of Omote Senke. Fuhaku later brought tea ceremony to Edo, the city of samurai. Blending Kyoto’s refined tea culture with samurai discipline and the spirited nature of Edo townspeople, he created a unique style. Known as “Samurai Tea,” this school features movements of quiet strength reflecting samurai aesthetics. Your experience begins by observing a traditional tea ceremony on tatami while enjoying seasonal sweets. Next, you will try a tray-style tea ceremony yourself. The instructor provides step-by-step guidance, making it enjoyable even for beginners. Through this samurai-rooted tea ceremony, we invite you to experience the essence of Japanese beauty.
