Overview
Founded in 1872, the Tokyo National Museum is the oldest museum in Japan. The museum has stored about 120,000 art works and owns nearly 100 national treasures. More than 3,000 art works are on display here at any time, giving visitors a digest of the history of Japan from ancient times to the modern era. It may be efficient to hire a guide to make sure you don't miss anything important. The collection changes a little each week, so you can enjoy it no matter how many times you visit. This tour does not include the special exhibition; we will primarily guide you through the permanent exhibitions in the Main Building and the Horyu-ji Gallery.
