Overview
First, there will be a 15-minute lecture introducing the basics of bonsai, including an explanation of what bonsai is, its historical roots in Japan, and an introduction to Bonsai-machi (Bonsai Town). Although you won't create your own bonsai during this session, you will participate in tasks that artisans perform regularly, such as pruning, moss application, and wire shaping. At the end, you will also learn daily care techniques for bonsai. While you won't be able to take a bonsai home, you will receive either the scissors used during the workshop or an original samue (traditional workwear) from Seikou-en as a souvenir.
